Provides legal advice to all OIG components; reviews and comments on legislation, regulations and policies affecting LSC and its operations; represents the OIG in litigation, including subpoena enforcement matters; responds to Freedom of Information Act requests; processes subpoenas.
Pursuant to 45 C.F.R. ยง 1641 the Legal Unit conducts proceedings to debar IPAs who have failed significantly to comply with government auditing standards and OIG audit guidance.
